Mosquito season can start as early as April and can go nearly all year in warm climates, but July through September are prime mosquito months in most areas. There are more than 3,000 species of mosquitoes found throughout the world, approximately 200 of which exist in North America. In North Carolina there are 60 confirmed species with 15 confirmed species in the mountains and piedmont. Prime mosquito biting hours are between dusk and dawn.
